Currently, the allowable pesticide residue levels for tea in Taiwan cover 411 specific items, as revised and announced by the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) on August 17, 2022. Different countries also have their own regulations regarding pesticide testing items and permissible limits.
A standard tea pesticide test report typically shows three types of results: “Exceeds Limit,” “Within Limit,” and “Not Detected (N.D.).” Among these, “Within Limit” may raise concerns, but it simply means that the pesticide residues in the tea fall within legal safety standards and pose no harm to human health. Pesticide residue testing is a crucial part of ensuring consumer trust in the quality of Taiwanese tea.
