Sijichun Winter Tip

Price range: NT$450 through NT$900

The Sijichun tea trees should have entered a dormant period after the winter tea was harvested, but because the weather briefly warmed up, the tea trees mistakenly thought that spring had arrived and began to grow during this period of time is called winter tip tea. The amount of Sijichun tea produced during this period is small, and it is the highest quality tea of the year.

“Winter tip” and “winter tea” are not the same. Generally, winter tea is harvested around October to November every year. After harvesting, the tea tree goes into dormancy and stop growing by the temperature drops until spring comes it starts growing. Since Sijichun tea trees are mostly planted in low altitudes areas, they are significantly affected by global warming. Under the influence of warm winters, usually occurs between December and January of the following year, the tea trees will mistakenly believe that spring has arrived early and grow new leaves again. The young leaves harvested during this period are the so-called winter tip, which have the unique flower aroma and special flavor of Sijichun tea.
